Our Sewing Day!

My friend Elaine, www.elaineadairpieces.blogspot.com,  and I decided that we would try to get together every couple months and have a sewing day.  We talked about taking turns driving and spend the day together sewing, making progress and yes we have lunch and a little snack.  Today was our first get together and I had the most amazing time and was very productive.  She is an amazing lady and I am learning so many things from her.  She has taught me patients, love of color and absolute joy!!!

I decided to pick colors that I would not usually pick.  I normally pick colors along the lines of earth tones.  There are bright yellows, greens and blue.  I love the fabrics, but wasn't sure how they would all look in a quilt top together.
See I have a nice, neat little  piles.................well, let me show you my sewing buddy's pile!!!!!  She enjoys life and makes things very enjoyable!!!  She called it her pile of spaghetti-that isn't what it looks like to me, but love her enthusiasm.

Here is a sample of the Kaleidoscope quilt.  I am going to use 12 total blocks with borders, making it big enough for a queen size bed.

Got a good start on a quilt top and plan to finish just as soon as I have time.  I happen to be working every day for my husband right now.  We leave the house around 5:30 am and I go get in a feed truck and feed cattle until hay and cake until about 12:30, then clean the barn of old straw, bed new straw and try to be done by 3 or 4 to come home and start supper and I must say by the end of the day I am tired and ready for a night of rest.  I'll keep you posted on how this turns out.

COLD

The horses are enjoying a cold crisp day in the snow.  They don't seem to mind the cold, but I sure do.  It seems to me that they are handling the cold so much better than me.  They are such beautiful animals!!  Love looking out our windows and seeing them looking back.

Perfectly Satisfied

This is a picture of one of the latest project I did for my sister's place in Colorado. She wanted something different, unique and had their brand on it. I found the neatest fabric with all sorts of brands all over it and used black and tan marble fabric to finish the edge of the valance. I wanted to embroider their brand, but could just embroider over the printed fabric, so that is why I chose the tan marble. When I put the two tans together there was a distinct difference in the colors, so I put the thin piece of black between to keep them from being side by side. I designed their brand on a 4D suite program that I have and then downloaded it into my Pfaff embroidery machine. I used a black rayon thread to embroider the brand so that it would blend in with the top part. I thought they turned out great, if I don't say so myself, and my sister was thrilled and says they "just loves them"!! I guess you can say that she is perfectly satisfied.

Having Issues

For some crazy reason, my computer is not liking my digital pictures being opened.  When I go to the program it tells me that I have to download.............I hate to inform the computer that I have downloaded a million pictures that are sitting there and I just want to open them and look.  NO....... and right now this computer is in charge.  I am going to win the battle.  I am going to take this equipment to my favorite computer guys and get rid of the little demon inside that won't let me open the pictures.  I love technology, but man it is so frustrating.  I have had this camera for about 6 years, so I suspect that there is a glitch in the program that doesn't have the correct update or something real simple.  Be patient with me and my program.  I can't wait to show you some of the progress in the sewing room.  I still need to get some ideas to be more organized ---actually need to figure out where else to put some of my "treasures" or as my spouse says "crap".   Thanks for all the support and hope to be up and running soon!!!

Wow, the new year came in like a roaring lion.  It was 25-30 below zero all day yesterday with the wind chill factor.  We got up to 1 degree yesterday with winds blowing up to 55 miles per hour.  I love living here!!

This is COLD!!  There are drifts starting at knee high, about 2 1/2 ft and taller.
Today is sunny and looks like it will melt down, there is a light breeze and cold.  The blizzard shut things down for a while, but on with progress!   I guess it is Winter in our area!!!!!!!
Hope all have a blessed and joyous new year.
