Our Sewing Day!

My friend Elaine, www.elaineadairpieces.blogspot.com,  and I decided that we would try to get together every couple months and have a sewing day.  We talked about taking turns driving and spend the day together sewing, making progress and yes we have lunch and a little snack.  Today was our first get together and I had the most amazing time and was very productive.  She is an amazing lady and I am learning so many things from her.  She has taught me patients, love of color and absolute joy!!!

I decided to pick colors that I would not usually pick.  I normally pick colors along the lines of earth tones.  There are bright yellows, greens and blue.  I love the fabrics, but wasn't sure how they would all look in a quilt top together.
See I have a nice, neat little  piles.................well, let me show you my sewing buddy's pile!!!!!  She enjoys life and makes things very enjoyable!!!  She called it her pile of spaghetti-that isn't what it looks like to me, but love her enthusiasm.

Here is a sample of the Kaleidoscope quilt.  I am going to use 12 total blocks with borders, making it big enough for a queen size bed.

Got a good start on a quilt top and plan to finish just as soon as I have time.  I happen to be working every day for my husband right now.  We leave the house around 5:30 am and I go get in a feed truck and feed cattle until hay and cake until about 12:30, then clean the barn of old straw, bed new straw and try to be done by 3 or 4 to come home and start supper and I must say by the end of the day I am tired and ready for a night of rest.  I'll keep you posted on how this turns out.

  1. Good job, Chell, to pick out of your comfort zone! The kaleidoscope squares look great.
I'd be tired at the end of your day, too, not to mention dealing with the cold and snow.

  2. Congratulations on stepping out of your comfort zone. I think you are going to be very happy with your selections.

One suggestion on the photos you post. They are going off of the page. Try making them "Large" instead of "Extra Large" after you post them. I think you and your readers will be happier. You can even change the size of photos on older posts, if you like.

    I enjoy reading your blog.

  5. Hey, Chell - this new/edited post looks good!
Good size, not too big, not too small. Just 3 photos, and nothing running off the page. Good job! New blogging takes futzing, until you get things the way "blogger" wants them.

Oh great, I just carefully read what you said about my pile of scraps! LOL
